Of course, you can. The real question is: Do you want to? Media buying is both an art and a science. If you only think about the numbers, you may be shortchanging yourself. Do you know what media your customers regularly use? Do you know what programs they watch? Do you know what they listen to in the car?
Can you make an informed decision about whether to buy billboards or busboards? Do you feel confident that you can take your […]

So, you want me to listen
Whether you’re writing a blog, posting a tweet or sharing on Facebook, you want someone to listen to you. Your challenge is not much different from getting the attention of reporter at the local paper or TV station.
To make your message heard, first, ask yourself why should anyone be interested? To get people to pay attention, you have to make sure what you say interests them.
Always put the why upfront. In the first sentence. In the headline. Be bold. […]

Eugene Splashes for Inaugural Komen Race for the Cure
With some 7,000 participants, the inaugural Eugene Race for the Cure on Oct. 10 was the most successful first-time event in Susan G. Komen history. And almost everyone who registered showed up to walk or run on the first rain-drenched day of the season. Komen Oregon also made history as the first statewide affiliate to host two races.
As the Race’s marketing and communications partner, CAWOOD donated 1,000 hours of service as Komen Oregon’s creative consultants, developing striking images and concise […]

Wearing a Pink Shirt
I’m a pretty open-minded fellow. Extremely open-minded, I might say. I’ve studied countless philosophies, ideas, theories and religions and respect them all (well, most of them). And I’ve enjoyed a wide range of experiences. I’ve delivered pizza late at night in scary neighborhoods, and dined with millionaires in Manhattan. I’ve played a trombone in dive bars while wearing a dress, and been dragged around downtown in a gimp outfit. I’ve eaten all kinds of foods, read all […]
CAWOOD wins a trifecta
To be recognized by APEX, The American Business Awards and The Communicator Awards all in the month of June was quite a high for us. Of course, it’s an honor to be recognized on an international level, but the work we do for our clients each and every day is the greatest reward of all.
Two years in a row we’ve won a coveted “Stevie” award from The American Business Awards. This year, we received the Best Writing/Content Award in […]
The invasion of the Travoys
How fun to work with the energetic folks at Burley Design. For years, they offered child, pet and utility trailers. This year they added a trailer that lets you tow your stuff easily – it’s called the Travoy, an urban trailer system. Half of our staff now use the Travoy. Here’s what some of them have to say:
“My new Travoy is the perfect bike trailer for all kinds of trips I do, but especially for commuting to work and meetings. […]
