Just about the time things slow down in my life they seem to pick back up again. We ended basketball season for two of my boys a few weeks back and we enjoyed the slower time spent at home.
And now, change is in the air… we just got calls from the coaches of two of my boys little league teams. And as it turns out I am co-coaching my oldest sons team. So needless to say, we’re going to be […]

Winter flowers in bloom
To keep things interesting in the neighborhood, CAWOOD hired artist Ryan Beard of One Sun Metalwerks to produce a landscape work of art. The piece, called “Street Flowers,” consists of six metal flowers ranging in height from 4- to 6-feet tall. The petals are made from recycled harrowing discs once used to plow fields, and the stems are crafted from recycled steel. The flowers are in full bloom on 12th Street just beyond the corner of 12th and High Streets, […]
Advertising contributes to the bottom line
2009 was a very good year for CAWOOD. I attribute that to advertising.
We bought the back cover of blue chip, a monthly publication dedicated to providing information for business owners and executives, and signed on with The Register-Guard as a Community Leader Together company. Quite simply, we increased our visibility.
But visibility alone isn’t enough when you want to make an impact. You also need an effective strategy. Let me tell you about ours.
When we decided to advertise in blue chip’s […]
Dari Mart gets more sustainable
Good news! Customers can now buy a “grab’n go green” reusable shopping bag for just 50¢ at 43 Dari mart stores in the southern Willamette Valley.
I was at the kickoff event on Friday, Jan. 15., when Springfield Mayor Sid Leiken and Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy thanked Operations Manager Kathy Gibson for taking such a huge step to improve the environment.
By switching to re-usable and paper bags, Dari Mart has eliminated the circulation of 1,382,800 plastic bags annually. That’s a […]
20 Under 40 Awards
What a great time we had seeing our very own Lindsey step to the podium to accept a 20 Under 40 Award at the Eugene Hilton last night! Lindsey is one of 20 young professionals under the age of 40 doing great things at work and in the community.
After quickly climbing the ranks from an entry-level Account Coordinator three years ago to Production Manager today, Lindsey manages the day-to-day operations of CAWOOD’s creative […]
Women Business Leader of the Year
Curious. Genuinely interested. Committed. Loyal. Generous. That’s Liz, our president. Today, we were thrilled to be at her side as she was recognized as one of five finalists for the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Woman Business Leader of the Year Award.
Other finalists included Suzanne Arlie of Arlie & Co., Linda McKay Korth of McKay Investment Co., Anne Marie Levis of Funk/Levis & Assoc. and Jeanne Staton of Staton Companies, who was […]
Biking for the environment
Minimizing our environmental impact while being available to our clients in the most efficient and timely manner is a key commitment here at CAWOOD. To provide further options to our employees to meet this commitment, we have purchased a new company bike, along with helmets and other bike accessories, they can use to visit client sites, run errands or otherwise move around the community. This is not just any bike though, but a “Bike Friday” tikit, which is, manufactured […]
Go Pink in the Park
When you want to spread an important message, count on community members who care about your cause. That’s what we did with Go Pink in the Park, now in its second year. A partnership of Oregon Imaging Centers and the Eugene Emeralds, Go Pink in the Park raises funds for a good cause, increases awareness about breast cancer and encourages women to have their annual mammograms – a true win-win-win.
The goal? To raise $15,000 for Susan G. Komen for […]
New OutdoorRugged.com
I’m excited to announce the launch of the new Trimble Outdoor Rugged website. This was a fun one. It’s not every day that we get to play with rugged computers – you can drop them, submerse them and they just don’t quit.
All fun aside, our challenge was to get inside the head of potential rugged handheld computer buyers – developers, resellers, and high-level IT executives. They all have one thing in common: their end-users work outdoors and need a reliable, […]
Community Leaders Together
Watch The Register-Guard throughout the year to learn what our staff is up to in the community. We’re showcasing how each of us can all get involved and make our community even better.
We led off in January with Jeneca Jones, an account executive, who reads to students twice a week at Centennial Elementary in Springfield. Hey, if you can spare an hour a week, […]
