With the introduction of timeline a few months ago, Facebook opened up the opportunity to add a cover photo to your page and a thumbnail image to each app. There are now six types of images to manage on your page. Here they are, with required sizes:
- Cover photo: 851 x 315
- Profile picture: 180 x 180
- Thumbnail image for apps: 111 x 74
- Highlighted images: 843 x 403
- Milestone images: 843 x 403
- Images within wall posts display as 404 x 404
The cover photo should creatively reflect your brand, who you are or what you do. Remember, the first thing a user sees when they arrive at your page is the cover image. Have fun with it, this is social media after all! Some examples of nice cover photos include Jaguar, Market of Choice and Starbucks. To change the cover photo, simply hover over the photo and click “Change Cover.” Cover photos should be changed from time to time to keep the page fresh.
Thumbnail images for apps are also easily changed. Simply click the down arrow (with the number next to it) to the right of your apps. This opens up a view of all your apps. Then, hover over the app image you’d like to change. Click on the pencil image that appears in the upper right hand corner of the app and click Edit Settings.

With any photo you add to a wall post that includes a business your page has liked, depending on that page’s privacy settings, remember to tag it!
